Q: Why did you start offering giveaways?
A: Because they're contests. And who doesn't love a good contest? Plus, giveaways are a great way for the team behind The Home Know-It-All to show just how special we think our readers are.
Q: That wasn't much of an answer. Where do the giveaways come from?
A: Oh, sorry. Recently, some of the manufacturers that we regularly write about at The Home Know-It-All have asked us if we'd like to give away some of their products to our oh-so-wonderful readers. And we said yes. It's a no-strings-attached proposition: These manufacturers (from companies large and small) in no way pay or otherwise compensate us to write about their products on our blog. Of course, manufacturers benefit because their name is out there in cyberspace more. But that's about it. In fact, the winner is the only person who gets anything out of the deal—a free product shipped to their doorstep. And that winner could be you!
Q: Who can win?
A: Anyone who isn't an employee of Lexicon (that's the company that employs all of us know-it-all bloggers) is eligible to win. Winners are chosen at random, so even if you're a family member of a Lexicon employee you can still enter.
Q: How do you select winners?
A: Winners are selected at random using random.org—which guarantees that they are, in fact, random. Once the contest deadline passes, we paste all of the email addresses into a spreadsheet. Then we use the Sequence Generator at random.org to generate a random string of numbers, paste those numbers next to the email addresses, and sort to see who the big winner is.
Q: Are there any other official details we should know about?
A: Glad you asked. Lexicon, the owner and creator of www.thehomeknowitall.com, reserves the right to execute any giveaways at the company's discretion and determine winners as the company sees fit. Limit one entry per email address. Duplicate entries will be deleted. If you don't leave a valid email address, you can't win. Rules, entry guidelines, prizes, and eligibility for a contest may be changed at any time without notice. Unless otherwise noted, all prizes will be sent directly from the prize provider to the winner. Prize providers reserve the right to terminate any contest at any time. If so, we'll post a notice for our readers. Prize providers also reserve the right to determine where the prize can be shipped—often the lower 48 contiguous United States. Specific details will be posted when the contest is announced.
