The Home Know-It-All is a self-professed expert on the basics of home improvement, decorating, cleaning, do-it-yourself, gardening, and easy repair projects. She isn’t an actual person (but if she were, wouldn’t she have a stellar house?!). Rather, The Home Know-It-All is the creation of the collective knowledge of the team at Lexicon Consulting, Inc.
What Is Lexicon Consulting, Inc.?
Lexicon is a custom-publishing, design, and communications firm located in Des Moines, Iowa. We bring more than 35 years of publishing experience to the table and have helped create more than 45 books and magazines related to home design, decorating, and building. We may not be the definitive experts on any of the topics we write about on this site, but we bring a passion for providing the best-quality information possible to our friends and readers. Why Create This Blog?
There are a gazillion* sources of information available in print and online about the topics we write about on this site. But over the years, as we’ve researched these topics for our own home projects as well as for the articles, magazines, and books we work on, we have discovered that it’s difficult to find straightforward, hardworking information on specific topics that are of interest to DIY-loving homeowners. And surfing the ’Net to take advantage of all the great resources out there takes hours upon hours—time that could be spent actually working on our homes!
That’s why we came up with this blog. Each day, Monday through Friday, we’ll walk you through the basics of a specific topic related to the home, with links to other sources of information and products available on the web.
